Melodic folk metal band ‘Balyios’ released a track off their upcoming album

Balyios is an emerging band from Pretoria, South Africa, expressing fast-paced, melodic guitar riffs accomponied by harmonic orchestras, choirs, flutes and accordian melodies. Since their formation in 2010, they have experienced rapid growth among the local metal community and are about to release their debut album independantly in 2012. Balyios was founded by Werner Boshoff – (keyboards), and Ruan Malan – (guitars, vocals) and were soon joined by two more members (Louis Kruger – bass, Frederik Nagel – drums) to complete the quartet. Despite having very different musical tastes and influences, the four found a common interest in folk metal and the history of ancient scandinavian cultures and mythology. It was after a simple demo studio session that Balyios was born, and after six months of gigging, they were invited to perform at their first festival in Stellenbosch. Their music has also aired on radio stations such as Voice of Rock and Top Rock Radio (UK).

As previously reported, the band revealed debut album details and part ways with the bassist. The band has now released first track off their album ‘Homeward‘ due to release this September. The track is titled ‘Niflheim‘.
