This Christmas Shimla gets its ultimate festive bash. Winter Rock Festival is a two day extravaganza being held in Shimla this Christmas. It is a part of Shimla Winter Carnival to be held from 24th Dec 2011 to 1st Jan 2012. ‘Metalfield‘ is one of the many events hosted by Winter Rock Festival scheduled to be held on 24th December 2011 in The Ritz, Shimla from 12:00 pm to 8 pm.
There will be following 5 bands in the ‘Metalfield’ who will compete for the cash prize of Rs. 15,000.
Dream Diabolic, is a Metal band from Namchi, Sikkim. They are the winners of the well-known fest of I.I.T. Guwahati (Alcheranga Rock O Phonix) in 2009. The next band Chamber is a Progressive/Alternative band from Guwahati formed in July 2010. They were judged as Runner-up in Tezpur, Metanoia 2011 in their debut gig. Next in line is Groove Metal band from Chandigarh, Dark Octaves of Sin (D.O.S), winner of Battle of Bands in I.I.T. Ropar this year. They have released two singles till now, and their second single “Not Your Slave” was included in MetalIndia Magazine’s compilation “Disrupt Dismantle Destroy Vol. I“.The next shortlisted band Dementia from Delhi, is Progressive/Experimental metal band who stood second at Synchroncity, Antaragni 2011 in I.I.T. Kanpur. . Last, but surely not the least, Ageless Yard is a metal band from Solan, near Shimla. They were recently judged as Runner-up in “Battle of Bands” in I.E.T. Doaba.
The opening act is by Sones Aura, a Progressive/Experimental Rock project from Chandigarh, who have recently won the much reputed PECFest, almost a month ago.
The supporting act is by talented upcoming Deathcore/ Groovecore Metal band from Chandigarh, Blackheart (https://www.facebook.com/Blackheartindia) who are going to release their debut EP “Anti-Corruption” on 1st Jan, 2012.
The Metalfield is being headlined by the following two bands:
First one is Hindi Progressive Metal band from Delhi, the Runners-up at channel [v] Launchpad ’11, Nigambodh and the other one is Wasted Soul, the pioneer of aggressive, sinful, wasted metal music in Chandigarh.
This is the best line-up Shimla has ever seen!! Tickets for the gig are 200 bucks per head only.
