Orion to release debut EP ‘On the Banks of Rubicon’

ORION, a four-piece progressive death metal band from Mumbai, India is releasing their debut EP titled ‘On the Banks of Rubiconthis Sunday, 11 November ’12 at Blue Frog, Mumbai. The gig will also feature Mumbai groove metallers Zygnema and Wired Anxiety. The EP consists of four songs and will be available for Rs. 99/-  only.

The concept of this EP would be, to be on the banks of Rubicon is to be at the threshold of the point of no return. It is that moment of contemplation when your mind is heavy with all the possible ramifications of you making, or walking away from the irreversible decision. The idea is an attempt to encapsulate and express this emotional state that all of us have been in at some point of time.

Track-list:

  1. Oh Sweet Ebullition
  2. Devoured Existence
  3. Astral Embodiment
  4. My Dying Prayer

Orion started off as a band somewhere early 2008, but in early February 2011, the line-up evolved to Vigneshkumar Venkatraman (guitars and vocals) now in Albatross, Anshuman Bhattacharya (Bass and backing vocals), Ashwin Kulkarni of Vajra (guitars) and Pritesh Prabhune of Chronic Phobia (Drums). Drawing influences from several favorites like Death, Opeth, Necrophagist, Gojira, Periphery, Protest the Hero, Scribe, Bhayanak Maut, Demonic Resurrection, to name a few, the band is a perfect mix of powerful gut-pounding double-bass to melodic and mind-warping guitars with a perfect blend of growls and clean vocals. The band has won several competitions locally and played many gigs as well.
