40oz Fist – Let’s Fight About It

40 oz. Fist is an American Thrashcore/Metalcore band hailing from Wisconsin. “Let’s Fight About It” is their debut album. This underground act formed in 2005 & has done formidable songwriting in their debut effort. Taking influences from hardcore and lot of thrash metal, they have created their own sound which is very raw and different from the hundred’s of Hatebreed and metalcore clones out there. Their extensive use of dual vocal style and ripping solo’s are brilliant.

“Let’s Fight About It” is energetic from start to finish. It has a lot of variation, good riffs and over all fast-pace. Most of this album is still filled with short(er), fast and to-the-point compositions. Though there’s some all out destructive high speed punk riffage, there are still a lot of metalcore riffs mixed in. The production is solid but still somewhat raw, the band plays amazingly well, and the lyrics are kick-ass.  An audible bass with both clarity and low end and loud, crashing drums make for a great moshing and head banging experience. Unlike the average core vocalist who simply sounds pretentiously overwrought with all the growling and screaming they do, both the vocalists here maintain a good balance and sincerely sound like regular people  getting pissed off and losing  temper .

Metalcore these days is far too sluggish and pretentious anyway, it has seriously lost touch with its roots (Hardcore and Metal) and it concerns itself more with crafting the same old beatdown parts than energy and aggression. Get this album and understand what it’s all about!
