Ugra-Karma – Blood Metal Initiation

It’s hard to imagine an extreme death metal band bombing out from the regions of the Northern Himalayan Region,Yeah.. Intense Death metal it is from Nepal and they are awesome!! A bit of introduction on the band before the review kicks off , a brief outlay on their previous releases, and achievements: The band, which originates from Kathmandu, is a three-piece outfit playing old-school-style death metal. In May 2001, Ugra Karma released their demo record called "The Himalayan Metal of Death" ,with the line-up of Sunil, Prateek and Aayush. Band survived with the line-up of Sunil (vocals and drums), Aayush (bass), Subash (guitars). All the members used to play with different bands. And in addition to it all > Ugra Karma recently topped the charts of Hits FM in Kathmandu. Well, these guys have carved themselves a position by now in the underground scene and with the release of this record "Blood Metal Initiation", its undoubtedly their talent to be appreciated by every death metal listener. The cd gurgles out a thirty two second interlude which has zombified grunts to begin with, and the tracks following; unleash mass carnage in its purest form. Vocals are completely outbursting with revenge, hatred.. The guitars don’t have the peculiar Death metal distortion and riffing that is expected from any death metal album., favoring more towards speed, drilling and industrial noise. The bass notes are interesting.. check out the third track for instance "Slaughtersword Deathbringer", its the bass and vocals to take it all the way! Credit to both the guys headlining there. Drums are slamming as wanted. I can figure out early death metal influences this band has somewhere near to Sodom, Sarcofago, Autopsy (in vocals mostly) and maybe a bit of early Cannibal Corpse,a likes as well; having heard the entire album. Each track brings forward its own importance and the time allotted to them is again no problem, The disappointing element is that the quality is a bit suppressed, the instruments mainly the guitars dont really sound clear, but towards the end its all done and forgiven. Core sector : Slaughtersword Deathbringer,Suicidal Lunacy,Home of the beast,Cannibal feast,Chanda Shaaitan The cover art work is self explanatory to there views, which could be well projected in their lyrics about death, torture, gore etc.. Needless to say its my first ever cd to have from a brutal Nepalese death metal band. They stand powerful but revision over a few changes could be helpful!
