Wayne – Metal Church

Wayne - Metal Church I would start off saying I am the wrong reviewer for this album. Since its music is not my cup of tea. Still, I will try to get into the skin of an old school power/heavy metal fan and review the album from their perspective. The 10 track record ‘Metal church’ (namely reminds of a good 80’s metal band) starts off with ‘The choice’ that literally leaves the listener with a choice to spin the cd further or not. Most lacking thing being ‘creativity’. The stagnated fell of a melodic power metal band creeps in as the tracks start shuffling. ‘Wayne’s’ music intriguingly ranges from old ‘Savatage’ meet ”Fates warning’ meet Helloween. They loose grip instantly as soon vocals hit the amplifiers, the vocalist tries to close in as much possible to Andy Derris (Helloween) but there aren’t many oars to save the sinking boat. Meanwhile the guitarist notably tries flat out Savatage style kind gentle solos, but both are let downs. There’s awkward inconsistent match between rhythms, leads and vocals. effecting the overall music deliverance. Drumming is reasonably medieval, though copes up the music well. However in this department also .It isn’t that rapid fire as it would be on other power metal records. Tracks like DSD (6),’Burning at the stake’ (5), and ‘Nightmare part 2′(7) salvage some pride for the band, displaying nice instrument handling. Technically no flaws but the approach they follow is very Jurassic and doesn’t appeal to the mature metal cells now anymore. It could have been more compact, radical,a little stretchy in comparison to the net product.(5/10)
